National Museums Scotland – South Asian Stories Trail

Created illustrations for National Museums Scotland's multilingual South Asian Stories Trail, supporting community-led storytelling and more inclusive interpretations of museum collections.

The South Asian Stories Trail is a collaborative project developed by National Museums Scotland and Edinburgh-based community organisation Networking Key Services (NKS), highlighting stories of South Asian cultural and religious life through objects displayed in the museum's collections.

As Illustrator, I created a series of original artworks for the multilingual trail materials, helping bring community-authored stories to life through engaging visual storytelling. The illustrations were developed to accompany translations in Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and English, making the trail accessible to a wider range of audiences while celebrating the diversity of South Asian experiences and traditions.

Drawing inspiration from objects within the collection and the stories contributed by community researchers and writers, the artwork supports visitors in connecting with themes of identity, migration, faith, creativity and belonging. The project demonstrates how illustration can enrich heritage interpretation, making museum collections more welcoming, inclusive and reflective of the communities they represent.
