Create Empathy Project - Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), Glasgow

The Create Empathy Project is an anti-racism education initiative developed through Glasgow's Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), bringing together creative learning, heritage and social justice to support conversations around identity, equality and inclusion.

As Lead Designer, we led the visual development of a suite of educational resources designed for children and young people. This included creating the Make Your Own Anti-Racist Hero card game for children aged 6–12, featuring ten original illustrated characters that encourage participants to explore concepts of identity, allyship, activism and belonging through play.

Alongside the card game, we designed visual materials for an interactive heritage trail spanning six locations across Glasgow city centre, helping participants engage with stories of migration, diversity and social change embedded within the city's landscape. Working collaboratively with writers, educators and project partners, I developed a cohesive visual language that made complex topics accessible, engaging and age-appropriate.

By combining illustration, storytelling and participatory learning, the project demonstrates how creative design can support anti-racist education and empower young people to imagine more inclusive futures.
